Builders merchant Jewson has signed up to support a world record attempt launched to promote healthier living on the Fylde coast.
The firm’s branch in Kilnhouse Lane, Lytham St Annes, has agreed to fund a number of high-visibility jackets to be provided to event managers, stewards and Guinness world record adjudicators to make sure the event runs smoothly.
People across the area have been encouraged to bring their children and families to Lytham Festival’s main arena on Lytham Green on the morning of Saturday 21 July to help break the record for the most people exercising to a fitness video.
The event has been arranged as part of the Fitter Fylde Coast initiative and will also act as a local celebration of the NHS’ 70th birthday.
Branch manager of Jewson in Lytham St Annes Dan Simmons said: “This is a great idea as we all know people need to look after themselves better than they do.
“I was very keen to help out and I am delighted we have been able to support the event by providing the jackets.”
Dr Tony Naughton, clinical chief officer for NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), who has spearheaded the campaign, said: “We are very grateful to Jewson for their support.
“The help of partner organisations and sponsors has not only helped this event become a reality, but also shown the true community spirit across the Fylde coast.”
